Estate Planning: What’s Important to You?
It’s important to make sure your Estate Plan is appropriate and unique to you. Before you start to plan your estate, ask yourself what’s most important. A few things to consider:
- When it comes to your estate executor, do you want a family member or a trusted official, like an attorney?
- Will you provide for grandchildren who haven’t been born yet?
- Is there a favorite charity to which you'd like to leave some money?
- Do you have strong religious beliefs when it comes to healthcare or end of life care?
- Would you like to make sure specific treasured possessions are passed down to specific individuals?
As you can see, once your start thinking about it, the list of questions could get quite long, depending on your wishes. That’s why it’s so important to create your own unique Estate Plan. You need to make sure that you get to make the decisions, not the state or federal government.
